Does UCLA get a spring break? ›

When is Spring Break for the University of California, Los Angeles? Spring Break 2024 for UCLA Students is Week 5, March 24th-29th.

Students must be in good academic standing to take courses Passed/Not Passed (must have a 2.0 cumulative and quarterly GPA).

If you originally took the course Pass/No Pass (P/NP) and received a No Pass, you have the option of repeat- ing the course for a grade or for P/NP. There is no limit to the number of P/NP courses you may repeat.

We admit students for fall quarter only. Completion of the following course requirements by spring prior to transfer: Two transferable courses in: English composition, critical thinking and writing.

For many colleges, academic breaks provide students a chance to reset and refocus on their academics away from campus. But spring break can also be an opportunity for learning and engagement to support student flourishing.

Late February to early March: For some southern universities and colleges. Mid to late March: This is the peak spring break time for most universities and colleges across the United States.

GPA in any one term falls below 1.5. Term GPA falls below 2.0 while on Probation. Student does not clear Probation within two terms (i.e., does not return to an overall GPA of 2.0 or better)

Average GPA: 3.93

This makes UCLA Extremely Competitive for GPAs. (Most schools use a weighted GPA out of 4.0, though some report an unweighted GPA. With a GPA of 3.93, UCLA requires you to be at the top of your class. You'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants.

- Courses originally taken for a letter grade cannot be repeated on a P/NP basis. - Courses taken P/NP will not impact the UC GPA and will not count towards Latin Honors. - If you plan on applying to professional schools, you should consult with those specific schools for any concerns regarding P/NP.

Admission requirements

You must earn a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.4 or better in the 15 college-preparatory courses (A-G courses), with no grade lower than a C.

A single 'B' can lower your GPA from a perfect 4.0, but the impact depends on the number of classes you have taken and their credit hours. However, a strong overall academic record with one 'B' is still highly regarded.

2. Fewer available spots: While competition might be less intense due to fewer applicants, there may nonetheless be fewer available positions. Certain colleges might not accept many (or any) students for spring semester, depending on their enrollment numbers during the fall.

Applying for spring admission could even increase your chances of getting accepted since spring applicant pools are usually smaller and present less competition than in the fall. Regardless of your reason for delaying your college admission, it's important to know what you're getting into as a spring applicant.

UCLA admits students for fall quarter only. Following are many of the criteria we consider: Junior-level standing (60 semester or 90 quarter transferable units completed) by the end of the spring term before you transfer.

It's a week-long vacation from classes typically held sometime in March or early April. It allows students to have some downtime in the middle of the spring semester to relax, unwind, and prepare for the remainder of the academic year.

Mid- to late March is typically the peak period for spring break for most colleges and universities across the country. This year, the majority of these institutions will have their rest and recreation between March 11 and April 1.
