🔥 It's time for the 2021 Continental Finals! 🔥
The top 8 battlers in each continent have emerged - it's time to determine the next Continental Champions! These Finalists will compete in a double-elimination bracket against their region this weekend:

APAC: July 31st @ 2pm JST (UTC+9)
NA: July 31st @ 11am PDT (UTC-7)
EU: August 1st @ 12pm BST (UTC+1)
LATAM: August 1st @ 1pm CLT (UTC-4)

🏆 Continuing to Worlds
The 4 Continental Champions will continue on to the 2021 World Championships, this time including an expanded field of competitors! In addition to the Champions, the top 4 Globally Ranked battlers (as of July 1, 2021) from each continental region will join the fray as Continental Challengers.

The World Championships will consist of 2 phases: a round-robin Group Stage and a double-elimination Finals. The Continental Champions will be exempt from the Group Stage and proceed straight to the Finals.

🗓️ 2021 World Championships Schedule Update:exclamation:
In order to give ample time for preparation and both battle phases, the World Championship Finals is being moved back one full week - to Saturday, August 21st, 2021. The exact time will announced closer to the event.

Factions will have until August 16th to RSVP to their specific Cycle and tier. The first Bout will now begin on August 17th. All other details for Season 1 of Factions will remain the same.

🏆 World Championships Postponed❗️
The Arena has made the decision to postpone the 2021 World Championships to September. The Group Phase will take place September 6th through the 10th and then Finals will be held on September 12th at 9AM PDT (UTC-7). The World Championships metas will be announced later this week.

Hello everyone from The Silph League! Oshawott joins us for Community Day on Sunday, 19th September 2021. Evolve Dewott during the event or up to two hours afterwards to get a Samurott that knows HYDRO CANNON!

As a bonus, Samurott will now be able to learn the Charged Attack Razor Shell. This attack will be available for Samurott to learn even after the event has concluded.

The 16 Challengers have been split into groups of 4 for a Round Robin style bracket and are competing for their spot in the Finals. The winner of each group will advance to the Double Elimination Finals on Sunday, 9/12, where they will face the Continental Champions for their shot at the Championship crown!

🏆 Get Ready for the World Championship Finals! 🏆
4 Continental Challengers have emerged victorious from the Preliminary Rounds, but they still have one more summit to climb! On Sunday, September 12th, they will join the 2021 Continental Champions in a double-elimination bracket for the World Championship Finals!

The meta for the Finals is a unique format, never seen before in the Arena. Unlike normal formats, where competitors bring 6 Pokémon as their Battle Team, the Finalists will build a team consisting of 8 Pokémon. Their opponent each will select 2 of those Pokémon to ban from battle, leaving 6 Pokémon to choose from.

🎉 New season, new phase of challenges! We are just days away from the start of the fourth Silph Arena Season, so get ready for new metas, exciting challenges, and your chance to make your mark on PvP history! We are excited to present the schedule for the 2021-2022 PvP Season. It will include:

🗓 Monthly Cups from October through December 🗓
Similar to last season, there will be three unique Themed Cups will be featured in the first split of the Season. These Cups will challenge your battle prowess, strategic creativity, and ingenuity.

🎆 Midseason Break and All-Star Invitational Returns! 🎆
Instead of a themed Cup, January will feature a special invitational separate from the PvP Season. Competitors will have the chance to display their skills in a unique way while getting a break from the competitive grind.

🏆Cups, Regionals, Championships, and More! 🏆
February through July will bring more themed Cups, as well as the return of Regionals. In August and September, Regionals winners will face off in Continentals and then, onto the pinnacle of PvP mastery at Worlds!

The start of Season 4 is just around the corner and time is of the essence! Soon we will release updates to Rules and Ranking, but need to ensure all details are ready before launch. Before Season 4 kicks off we have a few more important updates to announce! The Team has been busy putting last minute touches on several impactful changes that should improve the PvP tournament experience for all!🎉 New Tournament Formats Now Available! 🎉
Tournament Organizers can now host Round-robin and Double-elimination formats in addition to the standard Swiss-style. Round-robin will have diminishing rank returns at a pattern of 2x, 1.6x, 1.2x, 0.8x, and 0.4x, while Double-elimination will only be available as unranked. (Round-robins are not eligible for 10x rank gain.)

😷 COVID-19 and In-Person Tournaments 🦠
The Arena team continues to evaluate the risks of holding in-person tournaments as impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. A potential path forward has been outlined in this article and we ask not only that you read it thoroughly, but use these next few months to contemplate the best choices for your community, in your corner of the world. Please continue to follow local ordinances and health guidelines to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, so we can enjoy a safer world together - whenever that future may be.

As each season evolves, so does the Silph Arena to meet and address it's needs. In the last several weeks, we have hosted discussion sessions with community members to hear feedback and improve the PvP tournament experience. As each season begins, we start discussing changes to the rules and rematch systems based on community feedback and shifts in landscape of PvP and how we interact with Pokémon GO. After feedback and thoughtful discussion, we are confident that these updates will create more fairness while competing in tournaments.⚖️ Rules Updates for 2021-2022 Season ⚖️

👬 Rematch Rule Change: Before a rematch takes place, the opponent who did NOT request the rematch will have the option to select if both competitors will use the same three Pokémon as the original game or use the same lead Pokémon while allowing the back two Pokémon to change.

📈 Return to Rank: Competitors who voluntarily opted out of rank during Season 2 and 3 will be able to opt back in during the month of October 2021.

🤏 Tiebreakers: The recommended method for settling tiebreakers will now be determined by Battles Won, followed by Buchholz, then Global Rank.

📔 State-Of-The-Game Guide: A handy, comprehensive guide is in the works to outline the "State-Of-The-Game" mechanics and how they impact gameplay specific to PvP. With guidelines from the Arena Legislation Team, this information will be made available to all Tournament Organizers and should aid in settling disputes and provide consistency across the entire Arena.
